Approximately 55,000 families have so far been harmed by the rains, with their possessions and temporary homes damaged.

Persistent precipitation over the last seven days have intensified the extremely difficult situation of the vast number of uprooted residents in the region, as stated by relief groups.

"Awful" Conditions Creates Grave Threats

A spokesman described the recent storm as "terrible", with downpours so severe that around 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the ground.

"Last night was exceptionally horrendous for the residents. The downpours were so intense... And the gales were so strong," stated the official.

There is significant worry that children residing in temporary structures in damp garments will fall victim to hypothermia and various sicknesses.

Fatalities and Significant Destruction

Medical officials have stated that one baby has succumbed from hypothermia and a minimum of 11 other people have been killed in structural failures triggered by the harsh conditions.

Other reports indicate a increased number of casualties. Spokespeople said that several homes had totally fallen and scores had sustained partial collapse.

  • Nearly 55,000 families harmed by rains.
  • More than 40 official shelters severely flooded.
  • Many people forced to find new shelter.

Relief Efforts Considered Insufficient

Groups have escalated distribution of tarpaulins, blankets and clothing since the halt in hostilities started, but they emphasize there is continues to be not enough aid reaching those in need.

"Officials are operating tirelessly to bring in that aid and to hand it out, but the scale of the requirements is so vast that we are faced with thousands of individuals and minors who are truly suffering every night," warned one representative.

Ongoing Concerns and Agreement Provisions

The next stage of the ceasefire involves plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with political arrangements, the removal of personnel, and other conditions.

Humanitarian organizations have underscored the necessity for "expanded and ongoing humanitarian assistance to respond to urgent and long-term needs."

The war was initiated by an offensive in late 2023. Subsequent campaigns have caused a significant number of lives lost in the area, according to health ministry reports.
