Preview the Remastered Legendary Adventure: A Complimentary Trial for DQ7 Reimagined Debuts Shortly.

Players looking forward to the release of Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined don't need to wait much longer. A free-to-play trial experience will go live on the seventh of January, granting a sizable glimpse into the game's initial chapters. Importantly, all advancement made within this demo can be carried over directly into the complete game upon its subsequent debut.

Beyond Just a Simple Re-release: A Thorough Reimagining

This title constitutes a ground-up re-envisioning of the landmark 2000 role-playing game, initially known as Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. Taking a distinct step away from other Dragon Quest remakes, such as the previously released HD-2D versions, this version utilizes a striking three-dimensional aesthetic. Locales have been crafted to resemble intricate miniature worlds, with protagonists sporting a delightful stylized look.

"Even with the previous version, the main quest was remained quite extended. Therefore, we came to a decision that we wanted to streamline the story, [and] craft an experience for today's audiences."

Significant Gameplay Changes and Updates

Square Enix has added a host of enhancements to streamline the classic experience. Among these are:

  • Streamlined Overworld Battles: Inspired by contemporary role-playing games, low-level foes are now dispatched directly on the overworld map without initiating a full traditional battle screen.
  • Variable Battle Pace: Players can speed up combat animations to rapidly get past simpler fights.
  • Expanded Job System: One completely new character role was created for this reimagining. Additionally, party members gain the ability to take on a secondary vocation, greatly enhancing strategic options.

These changes are aimed at mitigate one of the original title's most noted criticisms: its daunting length. The original main quest could easily require over 100 hours to complete. This reimagined version has been specifically reworked to refine pacing and cut down on any repetition.
