Hulu to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of the Alien Series and the Comedy Hit.
The most recent Far Cry title that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is known for delighting in action and madness with similar enthusiasm, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed narratives. Little surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two visionaries whose work have represented all of those things.
What to Expect
Based on Ubisoft's successful video game property, the limited anthology series will be available on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' structure by introducing a different backdrop and cast of characters in subsequent series.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will serve as executive producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will deliver this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we do not know what part that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for more episodes, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the creator.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game worlds ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners constantly supports me with their constant confidence and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style series. Each game is a take of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the core of humanity through this intricate and turbulent perspective, is a long-held aspiration. I’m excited to partner with Rob and introduce our mutual bold, ambitious approach to the screen.”
A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
